The most valuble part of L.A this year was writing the essays every week. It prepared us for the DSTP and gave us an experience so we could do well.

The most memorable part of L.A this year was when we all got on the podeum and did our poems. It was a very funny experience and helped us understand poetry more.

Th lesson that made me think was when we all had to write all the essays and letters in that packet and turn it in together. The accomplishment and proudest moment essay, along with the resume and letter of thanks.

Accomplishment Essay

An accomplishment I would like to tell is that I just recently got hired for a job, at the Midway McDonalds. I was hired on May 27, 2008 to work as a cashier.

Not only am I proud that I got the job, but I’m also excited about working with my mom. When I was interviewed for the job I was so nervous that, while I was filling out my papers, my hands were shaking and my voice trembled as I spoke. This will be my first job, since I just turned fourteen on May 22, 2008.

I am so excited to start my job. A bonus that comes with this job, is that one of my best friends is also hired with me! Even though my Mom doesn’t think we will get anything done together, I will hopefully prove her wrong. Now that I have this job, I plan on keeping it until I have a steady career, or until I am out of college.

Thank You Letter

Dear Shakeira,       I am just writing this letter to thank you for being, not only a great cousin, but one of my best friends. Every time I’m down you always lift me up and try to make me feel better. Even when I’m stubborn and don’t want to listen to anything, you somehow make me laugh.

We have shared good times together and bad times. Whenever I had a heavy weight on my shoulders I could always come and talk to you about it.

Sure we’ve bumped heads before, but that’s what friends do. We’ve disagreed on some things and had our times, but we will always stick together until the end.

Just Amazing!

Proudest Moment of My Life!

Most people have a moment in life when they feel on top of the world. Well, my time was when I was in the third and I got was given my first distinguished performance.

In 2003, one night I received a letter in the mail that had invited me to come Cape Henlopen high School for the distinguished performance award ceremony. About a week later the ceremony was held.

The person on the microphone called my name to be awarded for distinguished performance in reading and math. That was the moment of my life. Everybody was cheering and to me that was a big. I was in a school with the big kids receiving a huge award.

The next following two years I received the same award and they are all hanging on my wall today.

Book Review

Charlie Bone and the Invisible Boy

My book is about an adventure in the magical world of Charlie Bone. The setting is during the winter time and the story takes place mostly at his school, Bloors Academy.          While Charlie was at Bloors’ this semester he found out that his art teacher had a long lost brother, and that a very old, evil lady had come back to his school in the form of a pretty girl. His art teacher’s long lost brother’s name was Ollie Sparks, and his whole body, besides his bug toe, was invisible. On day he had met up with a snake, and the snake’s power was to turn people invisible. The snake wrapped itself around Ollie and made him invisible. He was like that for a whole year until a little boy named Billy Raven got to talk to the snake, and convince him to turn Ollie visible again.

The very old, evil lady’s name was Yolanda. She was a shape shifter and shifted herself into being the prettiest girl Charlie had ever seen, but when she was her regular self, it was a total different story. She was very wrinkly and (sad to say) ugly. She tried to kill Ollie Sparks but didn’t manage to. She had the power to make people forget things, and she did just that to Charlie’s art teacher, Mr. Boldova. She made him forget he was looking for his long lost brother, and made him forget he was an art teacher.

I think this is a good book to read because you never know what is going to happen. You have to keep reading to see if  your hypothesis correct.

                                  I Am Legend

In 2009, a deadly virus swept our continent. Doctor Robert Neville gave his life to find this cure. In 2012 he died after finding the cure.       The virus turned humans into savage beasts among the Earth. The beasts ate and fed on people who weren’t infected. If the hideous monsters went outside in daylight, they would shrivel up and die. Once you were infected for a long period of time, you slowly began to lose your human features, such as English speaking and your hair.

Doctor Robert Neville lost his family while they were evacuating from the island in a helicopter. Their helicopter had pulled of and was hit by another helicopter that had begun to spin uncontrollably. He had had a wife named Susan and a daughter named Marley (after Bob Marley).

Along with losing his family, he lost the only person that kept him company on the island, his dog Samantha.Â
